Michael Caine must be a jolly good sport. Some time during the making of "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," a director had to say to him, "Sir Michael Caine, this is the part when you clamber atop a bee the size of a small plane, hold on tight and pretend to fly over the island." (Today)
Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams star in "The Vow."
Must have been a false memory planted by previews or TV commercials. I mistakenly thought "The Vow" was a romantic comedy, but it is, in fact, a romantic drama. It shuns silliness and grand, Garry Marshall-style gestures for quieter moments between Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum. She plays Paige, a sculptor, and he's Leo, owner of a small recording studio in Chicago. (Today)
From Renaissance cameos to cinematic ones, the art of the miniature is a many-splendored thing. Shorts in film -- as in underwear -- are expected to contain something animated or organically active. (Today)

Denzel Washington in 'Safe House.'
"You crushed my windpipe," the raspy-voiced CIA operative reminds his prisoner. "You locked me in the trunk," he counters, as if one excuses the other in "Safe House." (Today)

The cast of "Comic Book Men," with Kevin Smith, center.
"Comic Book Men" (10 p.m. Sunday, AMC), set inside film director Kevin Smith's New Jersey comics and collectibles store, struggles to find a raison d'etre in its premiere episode. Unlike so many of the dirty job shows on TV ("Deadliest Catch," "Bering Sea Gold," etc.), this docu-series does not feature guys at work in a dangerous setting. (Today)
