Todd Haley: "If you are sensitive, this is ... not the best place to be."
Todd Haley wasted little time assuring everyone that the Steelers offense he will run will do whatever is necessary to win. If that means throwing the ball like he did when he was the offensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals, fine. If that means running the ball like he did in 2 1/2 seasons as coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, that's fine, too. (Today)

Todd Haley has been hired, has met with his new colleagues on Mike Tomlin's coaching staff and members of the Steelers front office, and he finally met with the media Thursday. But he still has not talked to the man who makes that offense go, and they likely won't meet until next week. (Today)

It was difficult not to notice Simon Despres' pronounced limp as he left Penguins practice Thursday and headed for the training room at Consol Energy Center. The way things have been going for the Penguins the past couple of years, there no doubt were strong concerns for this promising rookie defenseman, who just this week returned to practice as he recovers from a knee injury. Pitt's offensive issues might not have been cured with the return of point guard Tray Woodall after all. The Panthers bungled their way through a 63-51 loss Wednesday night at South Florida, showing little of the offensive efficiency they had displayed in recent games in which Woodall played. Pitt is 4-3 in Big East Conference games with Woodall in the lineup. (Today)
West Virginia and the Big East Conference verbally agreed to a settlement Thursday night that will allow the Mountaineers to exit the conference for a sizable payout and join the Big 12, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. (Today)
